(LOUISVILLE, Ky., Dec. 5)- The McKendree University women's basketball team lost a Great Lakes Valley Conference game at Bellarmine University on Saturday 64-49.
The Bearcats fall to 1-6 overall and 0-2 in the GLVC, and will host Central Christian College on Wednesday, Dec. 9 at 5 p.m.
Senior guard
Kacey Johnson (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence Central) led McKendree with 12 points in the loss, while junior forward
Emily Pusheck (South Milwaukee, Wis./South Milwaukee) and senior guard
Kelsee Ennis (Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington South) scored eight and seven points, respectively. Sophomore forward
Shauniera Wilson (Springfield, Ill./Southeast) added a career-high six points.
The Bearcats kept pace with the Knights in the first half and only trailed 36-25 at the break. Bellarmine used a big third quarter, outscoring McKendree, 15-4, out of the half to extend its lead out to 51-29 heading into the final quarter. The Bearcats scored 20 points in the final 10 minutes of play, but it wouldn't be enough in the loss.
McKendree had its best offensive day of the season from the field, shooting a season-high 43.1-percent from the field in the contest, and outscored Bellarmine 24-22 in the paint.
Sarah Galvin led all players with 18 points for Bellarmine.
