Box Score (LEBANON, Ill., Feb. 12)- The McKendree University women's basketball team held a slight lead at the half, but were unable to hold on in the second half in a 71-67 loss to Rockhurst University.
The Bearcats fall to 2-20 overall and 1-13 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference and will host William Jewell College on Saturday, Feb. 14 at 1 p.m.
Junior guard
Jameeka Bouie (Racine, Wis./Case) and sophomore forward
Emily Pusheck (South Milwaukee, Wis./South Milwaukee) each had 16 points to lead McKendree, while sophomore guard/forward
Amber Alexander (St. Louis, Mo./Parkway North) matched her season-high with 12 points. Pusheck's 16 points was also a career-high.
The Bearcats found their range in the first half and shot 51.9 percent from the field. McKendree found itself trailing early, but used a 15-0 run to take a 27-27 lead with 6:40 left in the half. The Hawks battled back, but the Bearcats led 37-34 at the half. McKendree kept its lead for the first eight minutes of the second half, but both teams exchanged leads for the next few minutes until Rockhurst took a 59-57 lead with 9:26 left in the game. The Bearcats were unable to regain the lead down the stretch to fall 71-67.
