Box Score (LEBANON, Ill., Feb. 19)- The McKendree University women's basketball team had three players put up season-high scoring efforts on Thursday, but it wasn't enough in a 69-57 loss to University of Wisconsin-Parkside.
The Bearcats fall to 2-22 overall and 1-15 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference and will host No. 2 Lewis University on Saturday, Feb. 21 at 1 p.m. Prior to the game, McKendree will honor seniors
Caty Ponce (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) and
Haeley Kreisel (Warsaw, Mo./Warsaw) as part of senior day ceremonies.
Sophomore forward
Ellie Pusheck (South Milwaukee, Wis./South Milwaukee) led all players with a season-high 17 points, including a 5-of-5 effort from the field, while sophomore guard
Amber Alexander (St. Louis, Mo./Parkway North) and junior guard
Kelsee Ennis (Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington South) also both had season-highs with 13 and 12 points, respectively.
McKendree hung with the visitors in the opening half and trailed 26-19 after a slow-paced first half. The pace picked up in the second half, with the Bearcats doubling its first half scoring, but were only 2-of-11 from beyond the arc in the second half, while the Rangers were 4-of-5 from three. McKendree found its stroke at the free throw line, shooting 80.8-percent (21-26) from the stripe for the game, including 14 made free throws in the second half.
