(LEBANON, Ill., Sep. 18)- The McKendree University women's soccer team scored four goals in the first half on Friday to cruise to a 4-2 win over William Jewell College.
The Bearcats improved to 3-1-1 overall and 2-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference and will host Rockhurst University on Sunday, Sep. 20 at 12 p.m.
McKendree wasted little time getting on the scoreboard with an unassisted goal by
Brooke Coakley (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) in the sixth minute of the game to take a 1-0 lead.
Alyssa Reiniger (Maryville, Ill./Collinsville) extended the lead to 2-0 in the 11th minute off a pass from
Alyssa Patterson (Troy, Ill./Triad), and
Chelsea Whittaker (Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand/St Hilda's Collegiate School) added goals in the 21st and 26th minutes to jump out to a 4-0 lead. The Cardinals scored two goals in the second half, but the Bearcat defense held strong to earn the win.
