(LEBANON, Ill., Sep. 2)- The McKendree University women's soccer team will kick-off its 2015 season on at home on Thursday afternoon against University of North Alabama.
SCOUTING THE LIONS: University of North Alabama will make its first trip to Lebanon on Thursday for its season opener. The Lions were 14-4-1 overall last season and reached the championship match of the Gulf South Conference tournament, and are picked to finish third in the GSC in 2015. The Lions return Daktronics Division II National Player of the Year Chloe Richards, along with All-Conference selections Alyssa Bova, Eleanor Costello, Susan Lang and Beatriz Fernandes.
GLVC PRESEASON POLL: The Bearcats were picked to finsih in 10th place in the Great Lakes Valley Conference preseason ranking. McKendree finished last season with an overall record of 7-11 with a 6-9 mark in the GLVC.
SETTING GOALS: McKendree returns four of its top five goal scorers from last season in 2015.
Danielle Hareb (Flatbush, New Zealand/Mount Albert) was second on the team with three goals last season, followed by
Alyssa Patterson (Troy, Ill./Triad),
Cassie Kaiping (Waterloo, Ill./Waterloo), and
Alyssa Reiniger (Maryville, Ill./Collinsville) all with two goals.
HEAD COACH TIM STRANGE: McKendree head coach
Tim Strange is entering his 17th season as head coach for the women's soccer team at McKendree. Strange enters the season with a record of 220-75-26 and is the winningest coach in school history.
