(Lebanon, Ill., Oct. 6) – The McKendree University women's wrestling opened the 2016 with a 42-3 victory over Lindenwood University. The Bearcats improved to 1-0 overall with this victory.

McKendree jumped out to an early 10-0 lead as Kayla Walker (San Jose, Calif./Pioneer) and Vanessa Ramirez (Indianapolis, Ind./Warren Central) both each pinned their opponents.

The Lions would get their only points of the day coming from Tori Degginger with her 8-0 decision over Theresa Rankin (Grass Lake, MI/Grass Lake). McKendree led 10-3 at this point of the dual.

Hailee Lilly (Sanford, N.C./Lee County) would get McKendree back on track as she pinned Kelia Nakagawa 17 seconds into her match. Megan Black (Batavia, Iowa/Eddyville-Balcksburg-Fremont) would continue the pressure as she pinned her opponent with 1:41 remaining in the first. Alexia Ward (Portland, Ore./Westview) would increase the Bearcat lead to 25-3 as she pinned her opponent.

Olivia Seppinni (Rocklin, Calif./Rocklin) would earn a 10-0 tech fall victory to increase the lead to 29-3.

Alex Glaude increased the lead to 34-3 by forfeit.

Brandy Lowe (Paxico, Kan./Saint Mary's) would earn a 10-0 tech fall victory increasing the lead to 38-3. Destane Garrick (Brooklyn, NY/Wingate Campus) would finish the match off for the Bearcats with a 16-5 tech fall victory capping the 42-3 victory.
