(Indianapolis, Ind., Nov. 4) – The McKendree University women's soccer team advanced to the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) championship match as they defeated Truman State University 4-1 in a penalty kick shootout.

This is the Bearcats first GLVC championship match appearance since they have joined the conference in 2012.

The match was an even stalemate as McKendree and Truman both finished with 11 shots while putting seven of them on frame. McKendree did hold the advantage in corner kicks 5-3.

Goalkeepers Zoe Brochu (Ajax, Ontario, Canada/Pickering ) and Truman's Katie Mattingly would stand tall in net each collecting seven saves during the contest. Brochu however would make the difference in penalty kicks.

Sydnee Carroll (Millstadt, IL/Belleville West) took the first penalty kick and put the pressure on the Bulldogs as she found the back of the net. Zoe Brochu (Ajax, Ontario, Canada/Pickering ) made a diving save to turn away Kelsey Murphy's attempt on net. Ashleigh Briggs (Granite City, IL/Granite City) would increase the Bearcat lead to 2-0 as she buried her attempt. Brochu would deny Danielle Beer's attempt on goal to hold the McKendree lead. Danielle Hareb (Flatbush, New Zealand/Mount Albert) would find the back of the net to increase the lead to 3-0. Allison Lockett put Truman on the board as she drew the score 3-1. Amanda Williams (Rochester, IL/Rochester) would seal the Bearcat victory as she buried her attempt to cap the 4-1.

McKendree will face Rockhurst University in the GLVC championship match on Sunday at 12 ET at Carroll Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana.
