(INDIANAPOLIS, Ind., Nov. 4) – The McKendree University swimming & diving teams competed in a meet at the University of Indianapolis on Friday evening. The Men's team earned its first win in a dual meet over Bellarmine University by a score of 93-85.

The men's swimming team earned its first win of the season against Bellarmine University on Friday evening at the University of Indianapolis. However, McKendree fell to both Lewis University and University of Indianapolis. The team received several good swims including three second place finishes and two third place finishes against a very strong field of swimmers. Earning second place finishes were
Matija Pucarevic (Belgrade, Serbia/Sixth Belgrade Grammar School) in the 100 yard freestyle,
Josh Lamb (Conroe, TX/Arizona State University) in the 200 yard breaststroke, and the 200 yard medley relay team of
Daniel Buijs (Amersfoot, Netherlands), Lamb, Pucarevic, and
Luca Simonetti (Sassari, Italy/Liceo Scientifico Gulielmo Marconi Sassari). Third place finishes came for Pucarevic in the 100 yard freestyle and Simonetti in the 200 yard freestyle.
Cole Morgan (George Town, Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands/Cayman International School) was the first to swim the 1000 yard freestyle for McKendree earning a time of 10:17.88.
Freshman
Peyton Shafto (Granite Bay, CA/Granite Bay High School) swam his fastest 100-yard freestyle of the season, touching the wall at 49.79 to earn him the third best time in the 100 freestyle for McKendree. Freshman
Jack Davies (Conroe, TX/Woodlands College Park High School) bested his 200-yard backstroke time with a 1:58.94. Freshman
Matthew Meals (McKinney, TX/McKinney Boyd High School) also posted a personal best in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:17.70, for the second best time for McKendree. Lamb beat his previous time in the 200 IM by over three seconds, coming in at 2:01.60. Meals also beat his previous 200 IM with a time of 2:05.07. The second place finish of Buijs, Lamb, Pucarevic, and Simonetti earned the team the best finish for McKendree in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:35.63. The team of Davies, Breeding, Shafto, and Hutchinson earned the third best time for McKendree in the event with 1:42.09.

The women's swimming team earned one second place, one third place, two fourth place, and two fifth place finishes in the meet Friday evening. Freshman
Magdalena Knapp (Bolzano, Italy/Gymnasium Walther von der Vogelweide Bozen) earned a second place finish in the 200-yard butterfly touching the wall at 2:11.91. This is the fastest time in the 200-yard butterfly for McKendree. Freshman
Milica Sostarec (Alexandria, VA/Medical High School) earned third place in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 24.99. Knapp earned a fifth place finish in the event with a time of 25.11, which is a personal best for her. Freshman
Sydney Rey (Columbia, IL/Columbia High School) earned fourth place in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:11.05, besting her previous time from the Derby City Invitational. Knapp also earned a fourth place finish, in the 200 yard freestyle, coming in with a time of 1.58.13. Sostarec earned herself a fifth place finish in the 100 yard free with a time of 56.34. Hinch placed twelfth in the 100 yard free with a personal best time of 1:02.33.
