UNIVERSITY OF INDIANAPOLIS MEET - FULL RESULTS
(INDIANAPOLIS, Ind., Nov. 5) – The McKendree University men's swimming & diving team completed its first victory over Bellarmine University on the second day of a dual meet. The Bearcats bested Bellarmine by a score of 201-149.

University of Indianapolis – 300. McKendree University – 84.
Lewis University – 232.50. McKendree University – 135.5.
The men's swimming team completed the defeat of Bellarmine University on Saturday afternoon. However, the team was defeated by both UIndy and Lewis University. The team received several excellent swims, earning one first place, one second place, and three third place finishes in the ten events the team competed in.
Freshman
Matija Pucarevic (Belgrade, Serbia/Sixth Belgrade Grammar School) earned a first place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.86. Pucarevic also earned a third place finish in the 100-yard butterfly touching the wall in 51.74. Sophomore
Daniel Buijs (Amersfoot, Netherlands) earned a third place finish in the 100-yard backstroke coming in with a time of 53.13. Senior
Josh Lamb (Conroe, TX/Arizona State University) earned a second place finish in the 400-yard breaststroke with a time of 58.57. The team of Pucarevic,
Peyton Shafto (Granite Bay, CA/Granite Bay High School),
Stephen Hutchinson (South Elgin, IL/St. Charles North High School), and
Luca Simonetti (Sassari, Italy/Liceo Scientifico Gulielmo Marconi Sassari) finshed in third in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:27.13.
Freshman
Cole Morgan (George Town, Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands/Cayman International School) bested his previous 500-yard freestyle time of 5:04.38, with a 5:01.23 on Saturday. Both Simonetti and
Zach Breeding (Midland, TX/Midland High School) posted the top two times for McKendree in the 100 IM, with Simonetti finishing in 57.29 and Breeding finishing in 59.02. In Buij's first time swimming the 100 yard backstroke he earned McKendree's top time with a 53.13. Lamb and Breeding swam the Bearcats top two times this season in the 400-yard breaststroke. Lamb finished with a time of 58.57 and Breeding finished with a 1:05.51. Both
Matthew Meals (McKinney, TX/McKinney Boyd High School) and Morgan earned the top times for the Bearcats in the 400 yard IM, with Meals finishing in 4:27.34 and Morgan finishing in 4:30.90. The team of Pucarevic, Shafto, Hutchinson, and Simonetti also posted the top time for McKendree in the 200 freestyle relay, touching the wall in 1:27.13.

Final Results:
University of Indianapolis – 322. McKendree University – 37.
Lewis University – 275. McKendree University – 81.
Bellarmine University – 258. McKendree University – 98.
The Bearcats four women swimmers swam hard but ultimately fell short of the competition. The team had several great finishes including two second place, one third place, and two fourth place finishes.
Freshman
Milica Sostarec (Alexandria, VA/Medical High School) earned herself a second place finish in the 50-yard freestyle coming in at 24.48. Freshman
Magdalena Knapp (Bolzano, Italy/Gymnasium Walther von der Vogelweide Bozen) was shortly behind her, touching the wall at 25.46 to earn her a fourth place finish in the event. Knapp also earned a second place finish in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 58.97. Freshman
Sydney Rey (Columbia, IL/Columbia High School) finished in third place in the 100-yard backstroke coming in at 1:00.89. The team of Sostarec, Knapp,
Alena Hinch (Decatur, IL/Mt. Zion ), and Rey came in fourth in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:42.35.
During the meet, Rey earned the Bearcats top time in the 100 yard IM, touching the wall at 1:04.93. Hinch bested her previous time of 1:02.48, with a 1:02.20 in the 100-yard freestyle. Rey also bested one of her previous top times in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing almost one second faster at 1:00.89.
The Bearcats dive into action again at the University of Chicago Invitational on November 18-20.
