(Lebanon, Ill., Dec. 16) – The McKendree University women's basketball team strolled to a 75-36 victory over Robert Morris University-Peoria Saturday afternoon inside the Harry M. Statham Sports Center.
The win moves the Bearcats to 7-3 overall. McKendree returns to action Monday evening in its final game before the holiday break against Kentucky State University in another non-conference match up.
The Bearcats were paced offensively by freshman guard
Andranae Wash (St. Louis, MO/Cardinal Ritter College Prep) who scored a career high 14 points on 6-8 shooting to go with three rebounds and a pair of steals. Senior forward
Ellie Pusheck (South Milwaukee, Wis./South Milwaukee) finished second in scoring with 13 points with senior guard
Shannon McGinnis (Niles, Ill./Trinity) adding nine points and five rebounds. Freshman forward
Shayli Florine (Galesburg, IL/Galesburg) totaled seven points and hauled in a career high seven rebounds with senior forward
Emily Pusheck (South Milwaukee, Wis./South Milwaukee) matching her game high with seven boards of her own.
McKendree shot 7-15 in the first quarter as
Ellie Pusheck (South Milwaukee, Wis./South Milwaukee) set the tone on 4-4 shooting to cash in 11 points. The Bearcats outscored the Eagles 12-2 in the point including eight points on second chance baskets to jump out in front 19-7 after the first 10 minutes.
Wash got the scoring started in the second quarter with a jumper at the 9:51 mark to push the lead to 14. Junior guard
Halle Devoe (Springfield, Ill./Southeast) converted a layup off of a steal just a minute later and followed up with a three-point conversion on the Bearcats next possession to put in five straight points. McGinnis chipped in six points of her own in the quarter and McKendree extended its lead to 40-15 at the half.
Nine different Bearcats cashed in buckets in the third quarter as Wash scored a team high five points. McKendree shot .625 from the field, assisting on seven of its 10 field goals as the Bearcats continued to roll, pushing ahead 65-26.
Wash converted two of her three field goals in the fourth quarter to lead the McKendree scoring efforts with eight of the Bearcats 10 fourth quarter points coming from the bench as McKendree closed out Robert Morris-Peoria by 39.
