(Lebanon, Ill., Dec. 29) – The McKendree University women's basketball team steps back into action with its final non-conference game of the season Friday evening against Lincoln University at 5 p.m. inside the Harry M. Statham Sports Center after a 10-day layoff.
The Bearcats enter the weekend winners of four straight sitting at 8-3 overall and are 0-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference this season.
McKendree is led by senior forward
Ellie Pusheck (South Milwaukee, Wis./South Milwaukee) who owns a team high 8.8 points per game to pair with 3.0 rebounds. Fellow senior forward Emily Pucheck is second on the team at 8.7 points per game to go with 5.6 boards and a team high seven blocks. Senior guard
Shannon McGinnis (Niles, Ill./Trinity) averages 7.1 points along with a team high 6.7 rebounds. Sophomore forward
Jordan Morton (Olathe, Kan./Olathe South) and freshman guard
Jordan Heberg (Romeoville, IL/Plainfield North) round out the top scorers for the Bearcats at 6.0 and 5.7 points per game. Heberg also leads McKendree from beyond the arc shooting a team high .267 percent. Senior guard
Amber Alexander (St. Louis, Mo./Parkway North) adds a 3.5 points per game average to go with a team high 19 steals.
ABOUT LINCOLN UNIVERSITY
The Tigers enter the weekend at 1-9 overall and are coming off of an identical 10-day layoff. Lincoln is led by a three headed attack starting with senior guard Azaria Nave who holds a team high 16 points per game to go with 3.2 boards and a team high 19 steals. Senior guard Hunter Yoakum is second on the team at 15.6 points per game to pair with 4.2 boards. Freshman forward Erica Gibbons rounds out the top three scorers at 13 points per game on .515 shooting to go with a team high 19 blocks and 14 steals. The Tigers fell to Harris-Stowe 68-64, which is their only shared opponent thus far with McKendree, while the Bearcats topped the Hornets 67-62. Lincoln came out ahead of McKendree last season in the team's only meeting 77-56.
