(LEBANON, Ill., April 17)--The McKendree University lacrosse team topped conference foe Walsh University 16-7 in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match-up Sunday morning at Leemon Field.
The win improves the Bearcats to 8-6 overall and bumps their record to 6-3 in the GLIAC. McKendree returns to action Apr. 24 when they play host to Grand Valley State University on the Bearcats' Senior Day.
Sophomore
Paige Salthouse (St. Louis, Mo./Ursuline Academy) paced McKendree offensively with a game-high seven goals on just 15 shots while adding two assists. Seniors
Bree Suter (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) and
Rianne Holzmeyer (Hazelwood, Mo./Hazelwood West), along with sophomore
Dana DiPasquale (St. Charles, Mo./Barat Academy), each tallied a pair of goals, with DiPasquale adding a game-high three assists.
Junior netminder
Amy Porta (Ellisville, Mo./Marquette) stopped seven of the 14 shots she faced for a .500 save percentage to improve her season record to 8-6.
Salthouse recored two goals in the first half. Her second tally sparked a 6-0 run that stretched into the second half as McKendree led 8-4 at the break and eventually pushed the margin to 11-4.
