Quincy got off to the better start in the next set, taking eight of the first twelve points. However, the Bearcats were quick to respond, going on a 10-5 run to take their first lead of the set. McKendree never relinquished that lead, holding off the Hawks 25-21 for a two-set advantage.
Quincy controlled much of the play in the third, forcing a fourth set with a 25-21 win, which was finished off by a Jessica Licurgo kill. The Bearcats scored the final three points of the fourth set, overcoming a late four-point deficit to take the match 3-1.
The Bearcats will now head over to Springfield, Illinois, to take on another GLVC Central Division opponent in the UIS Prairie Stars. Game time for tomorrow's match is 3 pm, and you can watch it live at glvcsn.com/uis/.
