(FREMONT, Neb., Oct. 7) – The McKendree University women's hockey team fell to Midland University by a score of 2-1 on Saturday afternoon.
The Bearcats fall to 1-2 overall on the season after the loss. Midland University struck early in the first period sneaking one in just 1:03 into the contest. The teams remained scoreless through the remainder of the first period, with Midland holding a 1-0 lead heading into the second.
McKendree lit the lamp for the only goal of the second period on a power play marker from sophomore forward
Alyssa Albee (Brookfield, WI/Brookfield Central) with freshman forward
Paris Suzuki (Covina, California/Covina High School) registering the assist. The teams remained locked at a 1-1 tie heading into the third period. McKendree and Midland continued to battle throughout the third period with no team able to break the tie until the Warriors were able to score a power play goal with just 1:03 left in regulation. The Warriors went on to take the 2-1 victory over the Bearcats in the contest.
The two teams battle it out again on Sunday at noon in Fremont, Nebraska.
