Swimming & Diving Completes Competition at UIndy Quad Meet

FULL RESULTS - UINDY QUAD MEET

(INDIANAPOLIS, Ind., Nov. 5) –
The McKendree University men's and women's swimming & diving teams completed competition at the University of Indianapolis Quad Meet on Saturday afternoon.
 
After day one of the meet, the men held a 523-419 lead over Bellarmine University. The Bearcats trailed Lewis University by just eight points, by a score of 528-520. The McKendree men also trailed the host, UIndy, by a score of 596-461. The women's team trailed UIndy, Bellarmine, and Lewis. The Bearcats trailed Bellarmine by just 50 points, with a score of 473-423.
 
Despite numerous great swims from the Bearcats on the final day of the meet, the scoring was not in their favor. After day two the final scores were as follows:

Men's

The men's team received great swims on day two as well including a first place finish from sophomore swimmer Matija Pucarevic in the 100 fly with a time of 50.49. Pucarevic took two first place finishes and two second place finishes in individual events at the meet. Freshman swimmer Throstur Bjarnason was out to impress, earning an NCAA B Standard qualifying time in the 1000 free event with a time of 9:29.54. Bjarnason now surpassed his own school record for fastest time in the event. On the weekend freshman swimmer Alexander Skinner posted one first place finish, two second place finishes, and one fourth place finish in his individual events. McKendree's relay teams both took second place on Saturday, with the 400 medley relay team of Daniel Buijs, Matthew Meals, Pucarevic, and Skinner touching the wall in 3:28.92. The 200 free relay team of Pucarevic, Luca Simonetti, Bjarnason, and Skinner also took second, posting a time of 1:25.70. Sophomore diver Thad Zuber grabbed a third place finish in the three-meter diving event with a score of 220.80.

The women's team was highlighted by great swims by sophomore swimmer Milica Sostarec, who took first place in all four individual events that she competed in at the meet. Sostarec took first place in the 50 free and 100 free on both days, besting her times on day two. Sostarec earned an NCAA B Standard qualifying time in the 50 free finishing in 23.93, and set a new school record. She also set a school record in the 100 free on day two with a time of 52.16. Fresman swimmer Karlie Rimat earned two first place finishes at the meet, with her first coming on day one in the 200 back and her second coming on day two in the 400 IM with a time of 4:31.30. Freshman swimmer Meredith Geyer grabbed a first place finish in the 100 back on day two, posting a time of 58.98. Freshman diver Caitlyn Canadi posted top three finishes in both the one-meter dive and the three-meter dive.
 
The Bearcats are back in action at IUPUI for the Meet of Champs in Indianapolis, Ind. on November 17-19.
