(Lebanon, Ill., Nov. 7) -- The McKendree University women's volleyball program fell in five sets against the University of Missouri St. Louis Tritons on Tuesday night. The Bearcats took the first two sets 25-23, and 25-15, before dropping the next three to the Tritons, including a 15-11 loss in the fifth and decisive set.
Seniors Amanda Geiger and Arela Williams both surpassed 20 kills in the match, and combined for 23 total digs. Junior setter Morgan Melchert picked up a career match-high 60 assists, and recorded a team best 19 digs. Freshman outside hitter Elle Russell and sophomore libero Kelly Voss both contributed 17 digs as well.
Sophomore outside hitter Selena Nolte led the Tritons in kills, collecting 20, while red-shirt sophomore Maddy Russell picked 17 of her own. Senior libero Danielle Waedekin picked up 26 digs, and setter Madyson Abeyta compiled 57 assists and 19 digs.
With the loss, the Bearcats fall to 20-7 overall, and 14-2 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play. They will match-up with the University of Illinois Springfield Prairie Stars on Friday night at the Statham Sports Center.
