(LEBANON, Ill., Feb. 22) — The McKendree University women's basketball team closes out its 2016-17 campaign Thursday evening with a Great Lakes Valley Conference showdown against the University of Illinois Springfield at 5:30 p.m. in Springfield, IL.
The Bearcats enter the contest with a record of 10-17 overall and a 1-16 mark in league play this season.

Jordan Heberg (Romeoville, IL/Plainfield North) paces McKendree with a 7.7 scoring average, and leads the Bearcats from three-point range, shooting .324. Senior forward
Ellie Pusheck (South Milwaukee, Wis./South Milwaukee) is second on the team, averaging 7.4 points per game on .517 shooting to go with 3.0 rebounds per game. Senior forward
Emily Pusheck (South Milwaukee, Wis./South Milwaukee) has added 7.1 points per game coming off the bench along with 5.0 boards and a team high 12 blocks. Senior guard
Shannon McGinnis (Niles, Ill./Trinity) adds 6.9 points per game to pair with a team high 6.6 rebounds per game. Senior guard
Amber Alexander (St. Louis, Mo./Parkway North) rounds out the top scorers for McKendree, averaging 6.0 points and leads the team in assists at 2.6 per game.
ABOUT ILLINOIS SPRINGFIELD
The Prairie Stars enter the week with a record of 8-17, including a 2-15 clip in GLVC play. Junior forward Destiny Ramsey who averages 12.3 points per game to go with 5.7 rebounds, a team high 1.6 steals and 30 blocks leads Illinois Springfield. Senior forward Syerra Cunningham is second on the team at 11.6 points per game to go with a team high in 10.8 rebounds and 31 blocks. Junior guard Shelbi Patterson also averages double figures at 10.2 points per game to go with 4.6 boards and a team high 2.8 assists per game. The Prairie Stars topped McKendree in their previous meeting this season by a score of 59-53, but the Bearcats still hold a 5-4 advantage all time versus Illinois Springfield.
