(LEBANON, Ill., Feb. 3) – The No. 12 McKendree University women's hockey team hits the road for the first time since the beginning of last December to take on the No. 1 ranked Liberty University Flames in Lynchburg, Virginia on Friday, Feb. 3
rd at 9:45 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 4
th at 2:30 p.m.
The Bearcats enter the series ranked 5
th in the Women's D1 American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) with an overall record of 10-11. Liberty University enters the series 18-7-1 and are on an eight game winning streak. This will be the first time either team faces each other.
McKendree's young squad is lead in scoring by freshman
Lara Wentz (Bismark, ND) with eleven goals and four assists for 15 points.
Delayne Ivanowski (Kirkwood, MO/Kirkwood) also has 15 points with five goals and ten assists.
Alyssa Albee (Brookfield, WI/Brookfield Central) has seven goals and three assists for ten points on the season. Rounding out the top five for the Bearcats are
Kaleigh Slisz (Chicago, IL/Marist) with seven goals and two assists for nine points and
Keisha Johnson (Clearwater, BC) with five goals and three assists for 8 points.
Freshman goalkeeper
Jazmin Malinowski (New Lenox, IL/Lincoln-Way) had an outstanding weekend against Robert Morris and carried the team making 85 saves on 87 shots on goa for a .977 save percentage. Malinowski has appeared in eight games for the Bearcats and is 4-1 overall.
