McKendree University women's basketball team begins its final road trip of the season this weekend as all six remaining game will be away from the friendly confines of the Harry M.
Statham Sports Center. The
Bearcats tangle with No. 13 Drury University Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in Springfield, MO before closing the weekend in
Rolla, MO against Missouri S&T on Saturday at 1 p.m.
McKendree sits at 10-12 overall and 1-11 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference this season.
Senior forward Ellie
Pusheck leads the
Bearcats in scoring this season at 8.5 points per game to go with 3.5 rebounds and 11 blocks. Senior forward Emily
Pusheck is second on the team averaging 7.5 points per game along with 5.0 boards and a team high 12 blocks. Freshman guard
Jordan Heberg (Romeoville, IL/Plainfield North) and senior guard
Shannon McGinnis (Niles, Ill./Trinity) each average 7.1 points with Heberg leading
McKendree from three point range, shooting .329, while McGinnis leads the
Bearcats in rebounds at 6.7 per game. Senior guard
Amber Alexander (St. Louis, Mo./Parkway North) has contributed 6.5 points per game and leads the team in assists, averaging just over three per game.
ABOUT DRURY UNIVERSITY
The Panthers hold a record of 20-3 and are 12-1 in the GLVC this season. Junior guard Heather Harman ranks fifth in the league in points per game at 16.2 to go with 3.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game. Senior guard Paige Wilson is second in scoring at 12.8 points per game while shooting .418 from deep and .967 from the line. Senior forward Briana Jones and freshman forward Hailey Diestelkamp are both in double figures in scoring at 12.3 and 11.3 points per game. Jones adds a team high 16 blocks, while Diestelkamp has hauled in 8.8 boards per game, which places her second in the league. Drury is 11-1 versus common opponents of
McKendree this season with the
Bearcats holding a record of 1-11 in those contests. The Panthers topped
McKendree in the team's only meeting a season ago by a score of 71-60.
ABOUT MISSOURI S&T
The Miners enter the week with an overall record of 8-13 and are 3-10 in the GLVC. Junior guard Janie Arand who has a team high 10.6 points per game on .445 shooting leads Missouri S&T. Senior guard Elsie Greenwood is second on the team, averaging 9.7 points and a team high 1.4 steals per game. Freshman forward Katey Brown has posted a team high 5.5 rebounds per game and junior guard Aricca Daye has dished out 2.7 assists per game. The Miners are 3-9 against common opponents of
McKendree this season, while the
Bearcats are 2-10 in those contests.
McKendree came out on top in the programs only meeting last season by a score of 60-42.
