(St. Charles, MO., March 21) – The McKendree University women's lacrosse team fell to 4-4 on the 2017 campaign as the No. 2 Lindenwood University Lions dropped the Bearcats in an 18-9 contest.
McKendree traded goals back and forth with the nationally ranked Lions in the first half before Lindenwood pulled away in the second. The Lions held the shot advantage 40-39 in the match.
Dana DiPasquale (St. Charles, MO/Barat Academy) led the way offensively for McKendree as she tallied three goals.
Paige Salthouse (St. Louis, MO/Ursuline Academy) and
Hannah Sugarman (Holden, MA/Wachusett Regional ) both contributed two goals in the Bearcat effort.
Ola Abdallah (Florissant, MO/Hazelwood West) added one goal, and
Mia Fiore (Eureka, MO/Eureka High School) netted her first of the 2017 season along with four draw controls.
The high-powered Lions offense struck in the first twelve seconds of the game, and once again 35 seconds later to give Lindenwood a 2-0 lead. McKendree would answer back with goals cutting into the Lions lead. Heading into the half the Bearcats trailed 10-5.
In the second, McKendree cut the lead as small as four goals before Lindenwood pulled away to seal the victory.
In net for McKendree was Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Defensive Player of the Week,
Amy Porta (Ellisville, MO/Marquette). Porta collected 11 saves for McKendree.
The women's lacrosse team is back in action on April, 2 as the team welcomes Northern Michigan University to Leemon Field. First draw is scheduled for Noon.
