Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 (JOPLIN, Mo., March 5) – The McKendree University softball moves to 11-9 overall as the team split day two of the Teri Mathis-Zenner Memorial Tournament with a 5-1 loss to Northwest Missouri State University and a 12-2 victory over University of Nebraska at Kearney.

Northwest Missouri jumped on the scoreboard first in the second inning as Abigail Gilson singled down the left field line to drive in Kaitlin Weis.

McKendree would tie that game up at 1-1 in the bottom of the fourth as Kyla Haukap (Dawson, Ill./Buffalo Tri-City) stole third and then scored on an error. The Bearcats of Northwest Missouri would answer back in the top of the fifth as they added two runs to take back the lead at 3-1. In the top of the seventh, Northwest Missouri added two more runs to seal the victory at 5-1.

Holly Magre (Festus, Mo./St. Pius X) went the distance for McKendree moving to 7-3 on the season striking out seven batters.

In game two, McKendree bounced back as they posted five runs in the first inning including a Brooke Gajewski (Kronenwetter, Wis./D.C. Everest) two run home run. In the third inning, Rachel Hastings (Forsyth, Ill./Maroa-Forsyth ) added a three-run home run to add the Bearcats' lead. Jamie Doggendorf (Dittmer, Mo./Northwest) went 3-for-3 in the game collecting three singles and reaching on a walk. Hastings contributed four RBI in her four plate appearances.

Kylee Silliman (Fremont, IA/Oskaloosa ) improved to 4-2 on the season as pitched a five inning compete game only surrendering five hits while striking out one batter.

The Bearcats are back in action on Saturday, March 11 at 1 p.m. for the home opener double header against Kentucky Wesleyan College at Bearcat Field.
