(HUDSONVILLE, Mich., Oct. 13) – McKendree University women's hockey came out victorious in overtime against Grand Valley State University in a hard-fought game on Saturday afternoon. Sophomore
Dakota Peterson (Battleford, Saskatchewan, Canada) scored on an unassisted goal to lift the Bearcats 1-0 over the Lakers.
The Bearcats battled through adversity to carry a scoreless game on the road into overtime. Peterson ended the long game as she took the puck and buried it past the Laker goaltender. She recorded the only point the game.
Jazmin Malinowski (New Lenox, IL/Lincoln-Way) stopped all Grand Valley State to record her second shutout of the season.
"What a hard-fought game today was. Jazmin was stellar for us when we were a bit flat early on, and our penalty killers came up big as well," said McKendree head coach
Derek Pallardy. "This team keeps rising to different challenges and there's a lot to be proud of with this group."
The women's hockey team will look to sweep on Sunday afternoon as they take the ice at 1:00p.m. ET.
