(LEBANON, Ill., Oct 2) – The McKendree University women's soccer team powered past the Lynx of Lindenwood University-Belleville Tuesday evening 2-0 in non-conference action. The Bearcats now sit at 8-1-1 overall and 4-1-1 in Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) play.
Almost all action took place in the second half of the match, starting with freshman midfielder
Riley Ross (Springfield, IL/Rochester High School) netting her second goal of the season and the eventual game winner off an assist from
Emma Knoebel (Maryville, IL/Collinsville High School) in the 47
th minute of play. The Bearcats would find the back of the net once more after junior forward
Madyson Mossman (St. Louis, MO/Ursuline Academy) sent a shot past the Lynx goalkeeper, courtesy of an assist from
Kailey Anderson (O'Fallon, MO/Fort Zumwalt West). The McKendree offense finished with 15 total shots, eight of which were on goal. Defensively, junior goalkeeper
Zoe Brochu (Ajax, Ontario, Canada/Pickering) recorded her seventh shutout of the season while adding four saves to her season total.
The women's soccer team will be back in action on Friday, October 5 at 5:00 p.m. as they travel to Springfield, IL to resume GLVC play.
