(SPRINGFIELD, Mo., Oct. 26) – The McKendree University women's hockey team continued their dominance of the Arizona State Showcase with another shutout win on Friday afternoon. The Bearcats poured in 14 goals to continue their brilliance.
Sophomore
Paris Suzuki (Covina, CA/Covina High School) began the scoring with an unassisted goal minutes into the first period. Seconds later, junior
Tia Kay (Willard, UT/Box Elder) scored her first collegiate goal with the help from junior
Domenika Reusche (San Jose, CA/Archbishop Mitty). Suzuki put away her second goal of the period with an assist from junior
Jana Garrow (Wexford, PA/North Allegheny). Junior
Alyssa Albee (Brookfield, WI/Brookfield Central) knocked in her first as juniors
Lara Wentz (Bismark, ND/) and
Nadia Studnicka (Chillicothe, IL/Home School) got credit with the assists. The Bearcats would lead 4-0 after the opening period.
Albee kicked off the second period scoring as she put away her second of the game with a pass from junior
Chase Hallemann (Ballwin, MO/Marquette). Suzuki finished off the hat trick with her second unassisted goal of the game. Albee would complete her first collegiate hat trick just minutes later with the help from sophomore
Callie Hoadley (Hanover, MA/Hanover High School) and Wentz. Junior
Allison Sauvola (Eagle River, WI/Northland Pines) scored her first goal of the season to give McKendree an 8-0 lead. Sophomore
Dakota Peterson (Battleford, Saskatchewan, Canada) added to her team lead in goals as she put away her first of the game. McKendree went into the second intermission leading by the score of 9-0.
Hoadley wouldn't be left out of the scoring column and she recorded her first goal of the game. Hallemann would lit the lamp for the first time this year as freshman
Taylor Clarke (Victoria, BC, Canada/Belmont Secondary) got credit for the assist. Peterson netted her second goal of the game to give the Bearcats a 12-0 lead. Sophomore
Elia Burbidge (Tottenham, Ontario, Canada/The Hill Academy) added to the onslaught as she contributed her first of the game. Sophomore
Madison Mesec (Menlo Park, CA/Menlo-Atherton) recorded her first goal of the season to give McKendree 14-0 win over Concordia University.
Junior
Jazmin Malinowski (New Lenox, IL/Lincoln-Way) continued her dominance between the pipes as she turned away all eight Cardinal shots she faced. The shutout was her third consecutive and her fourth of the year.
The women's hockey team will close out the Arizona State Showcase on Saturday at 7:00p.m. when they take on the showcase host, Arizona State University.
