(ADRIAN, Mich., Nov. 17) – The McKendree University women's hockey team fell just short against the No. 1 ranked team in the American Collegiate Hockey Association, Adrian College on Saturday afternoon. The Bearcats move to 11-4 overall.
 
The Bulldogs got on the board first, scoring just a minute into the opening period. McKendree came back to tie it seven minutes later, as junior Alyssa Albee (Brookfield, WI/Brookfield Central) buried the equalizing goal with an assist from junior Lara Wentz (Bismark, ND/) and sophomore Callie Hoadley (Hanover, MA/Hanover High School). Sophomore Dakota Peterson (Battleford, Saskatchewan, Canada) would give the Bearcats their first lead of the series scoring an unassisted goal. McKendree took a 2-1 lead into the first intermission.
 
Just a little over three minutes into the second period, Adrian would tie the game at two. No scoring would happen in the next 36 minutes, resulting in an overtime session. The Bulldogs net the game-winning goal two minutes into the overtime period to clinch a 3-2 victory over McKendree.
 
Freshman goaltender Naomi Leasck (St. Louis, MO/Lindbergh High School) stopped 42/45 shots, good for a .933 save percentage.
 
The women's hockey team will return the rink on November 30 as they travel back to Bensenville, Ill. for a rematch against Robert Morris University, this time in a two game series.
