(LEBANON, Ill., Dec. 18)--
The McKendree University women's basketball team will bring the first semester of its 2018-19 season to a close with a Wednesday afternoon home game against Culver-Stockton College. The non-conference match-up will tip off at 1 p.m. inside the Statham Center. The game will be carried live on the Bearcat Sports Network at www.glvcsn.com/mckendree, beginning with the pre-game show at 12:50 p.m.

The Bearcats will bring a 7-3 overall record into Wednesday's contest. McKendree battled its way to a 59-55 victory Sunday afternoon at Northwest Missouri State University thanks in large part to a stellar defensive effort in the fourth quarter. The Bearcats limited the hosts to just seven points in the period and held Northwest Missouri State without a point for more than seven minutes down the stretch. Megan Jensen (Union, MO/Saint Francis Borgia Regional) poured in a career-high 19 points to lead four McKendree players who scored in double figures on Sunday. Sydney Diekhoff (Pekin, IL/Pekin Community) added 13 points and three steals, while Jordan Heberg (Romeoville, IL/Plainfield North) and Jordan Morton (Olathe, Kan./Olathe South) each chipped in with 10 points. Morton finished the day with a double-double has she pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds.

McKendree is one of five Great Lakes Valley Conference teams holding its opponents below 60 points per game this season. Through 10 games, the Bearcats have allowed just 59.4 PPG, which is good for fifth in the league. McKendree also boasts the top three-point field goal defense in the conference, holding its foes to just 26 percent from beyond the arc.

A win against Culver-Stockton would enable McKendree to match a program mark for the most victories before Christmas since joining the NCAA Division II ranks. The Bearcats posted an 8-3 record prior to the holiday break during the 2016-17 season. The Bearcats are also second in the GLVC in rebounding margin, averaging more than seven boards per game than its opponents.

Following Wednesday's contest, McKendree will have 11 days off before taking on Southern Illinois University Edwardsville on Sunday, Dec. 30 at 2 p.m.
