(KENOSHA, Wisc., Feb. 25) – The McKendree University women's water polo team earned their second Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Varsity level victory on Saturday, with a 17-7 win over Monmouth College.
 
The Bearcats improve to 4-8 overall on the season, and 2-1 on the weekend.
 
McKendree took a 5-2 lead after the first quarter in today's contest, with two goals each from sophomore attacker Brianna Mullalley and senior attacker Sabrina Sherrin. Sophomore center defender Tiana also found the back of the net in the first quarter to help build on the Bearcats lead. McKendree added another three goals in the second quarter, with two more markers from Sherrin and one from sophomore utility player Victoria Jones. The Bearcats held an 8-3 heading into halftime.
 
Sherrin continued her scoring frenzy in the third quarter, notching four goals in the quarter. Jones, Mullalley, and freshman attacker Emily Westlove each netted one goal in the quarter to give McKendree seven total goals in the quarter. The Bearcats held Monmouth to just two goals in the third quarter, taking a 15-5 lead. Sherrin found the back of the net once again in the fourth quarter along with a tally from freshman defender Hannah Sallenback, while holding the Fighting Scots to just two goals. The Bearcats took home their second CWPA Varsity level victory with a 17-7 win over Monmouth College.
 
The Bearcats are back in action starting on Thursday, March 1 for a contest against Chapman University, followed up by four games at the Convergence Tournament in Claremont, Calif. on March 2-3.
