(Melbourne, Flor., March 13) -- Six different Bearcats picked up points in a 19-7 loss at #5 Florida Tech in a non-conference game on Tuesday night. Following the defeat at the hands of the undefeated Panthers, McKendree women's lacrosse fell to 1-2 overall on the season and remains 0-1 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play.
The Panthers opened the scoring with three straight goals, before senior
Mia Fiore (Eureka, MO/Eureka High School) cut into the lead with her fourth tally of the year. Florida Tech then rattled off seven straight goals and had a 10-2 advantage at the half.
Florida Tech continued to control play in the second half, outscoring the Bearcats 9-5 in route to their eighth win of the season. The Panthers had two players pick up five goals, in Sam Schiano and Lauren Tybor, while goaltender Stephanie Stuart got credit for the win, making six saves on eight shots faced.

Rylee Skachenko (Oceanside, CA/Carlsbad) each had two goals for the Bearcats and combined for nine total draw controls in the losing effort. Midfielder
Hannah Sugarman (Holden, MA/Wachusett Regional) picked up a team-high five ground balls to go with two caused turnovers, while junior
Emily Nelson (Deephaven, MN/Holy Family Catholic) also caused two turnovers and earned three assists on the night.
McKendree will now head to Lakeland, Florida to take the on the #1 team in the nation, in Florida Southern College, in a 6 pm CT contest tomorrow evening.
