(Lebanon, Ill., March 23) -- McKendree men's volleyball rebounded from a loss to Princeton University last night to take down those same Tigers in four sets in front of a raucous home crowd on Friday evening. The Bearcats improve to 10-11 overall on the season, while Princeton drops to 8-12.

McKendree put away 14 more kills as a team than the Tigers, hitting .242 in the winning effort. Jared Wilcox and Brendan Schmidt (O'Fallon, MO/Fort Zumwalt West) led the Bearcats in kills with 16 and 15 respectively, while Nolan Rueter recorded a team-high 14 digs.

The Bearcats found themselves down by four early in the first set but were able to rebound with a couple of scoring runs to get back into it. They took 21 of the last 30 points to win the first set handily by a score of 25-17.

???????McKendree jumped out to an early 8-3 lead in the second set, but the Tigers responded with five straight points to tie the score. The Bearcats then produced five straight points of their own, in route to a 25-20 win, as they held on to take a two-set advantage.

Princeton used a late 7-3 run to squeak out the third set 25-23, staying alive in the match. The Bearcats squandered six straight match points in the fourth, but recovered to win the set 26-24, taking the match three sets to one.

The Bearcats will close out home play for the 2018 season next weekend, as they will host the Lewis University Flyers on Thursday and the Loyola Chicago Ramblers on Saturday.
