Tiffin Rallies Past McKendree in GLIAC Road Contest, 17-14

(TIFFIN, Ohio., March 29)—The McKendree University women's lacrosse team dropped a 17-14 road decision Thursday night in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play at Tiffin University.

The Bearcats held an 11-10 lead in the early stages of the second half, but the host Dragons scored five of the next six goals to take the lead for good. McKendree slips to 2-6 overall and 1-2 in GLIAC play. The Bearcats will wrap up their two-match road swing Saturday afternoon with a 1 p.m. ET first draw at Grand Valley State University.

Senior attacker Dana DiPasquale (St. Charles, MO/Barat Academy) led the way for McKendree with four goals and an assist for five points at Tiffin. Senior attacker Paige Salthouse (St. Louis, MO/Ursuline Academy) netted four goals, while junior attacker Emily Nelson (Deephaven, MN/Holy Family Catholic) contributed a pair of goals along with an assist. Nelson also registered a team-leading five draw controls in Thursday's contest.

McKendree scored the first three goals of the contest as Salthouse and Nelson sandwiched tallied around a goal by senior attacker Mia Fiore (Eureka, MO/Eureka High School). Tiffin (6-3, 3-1 GLIAC) responded with six of the next seven goals of the match to grab its first lead of the night at 6-4 with just over eight minutes left in the first half. Freshman midfielder Rylee Skachenko (Oceanside, CA/Carlsbad) scored twice in the final 6:23 of the period to get the Bearcats back within 8-7 at the intermission.

After Tiffin regained a two-goal advantage in the first minute of the second half, McKendree stormed back in front with four of the next five tallies to regain an 11-10 advantage. DiPasquale scored three times in that span, including a goal with 20:41 remaining to give the Bearcats their final lead of the night. The teams were tied 12-12 before the Dragons ripped off three straight scores to grab a 15-12 lead with just under seven minutes to play.

Sophomore Collin Patton (Wildwood, MO/Eureka) made six saves in goal for McKendree.
