(LEBANON, Ill., April 15)—The McKendree University softball team concluded a Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheader Sunday at home against Rockhurst University that originally started a day earlier. After play was suspended on Saturday in the sixth inning of game one, the Bearcats and Hawks resumed play and each took a game in the twinbill. McKendree won 2-0 in game one before Rockhurst nabbed a 4-0 decision in the nightcap.
McKendree's game one victory marked victory No. 30 of the 2018 season for the Bearcats, marking the second straight year that the Bearcats eclipsed the 30-win mark. McKendree is now 30-13 overall and 15-7 in GLVC action. The Bearcats will play their final non-conference games of the year on Wednesday at Kentucky Wesleyan College. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
Following Sunday's second game, McKendree honored eight seniors in a special ceremony. The seniors included catchers

Kyla Haukap (Dawson, Ill./Buffalo Tri-City) and
Abbi Liske (Ashley, Ill./Nashville), along with manager
Emma Lewis (Bethalto, Ill./Civic Memorial).
The only runs of game one came in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Brooke Gajewski (Kronenwetter, Wis./D.C. Everest) drew a leadoff walk and was replaced by Haukap as a pinch-runner. Sophomore infielder
Caitlyn Lowry (St. Louis, MO/Notre Dame) broke the scoreless tie when she brought home Haukap with an RBI single. Freshman infielder
Haegen Boyer (Eddyville, IA/Eddyville) stepped in next and ripped a run-scoring double to plate Lowry with the final run of the contest.
Freshman
Miranda Gajewski (Kronenwetter, WI/D.C. Everest) tossed her 10
th complete game of the season in the opener against Rockhurst. Gajewski allowed just two hits with seven strikeouts to earn her 17
th victory of 2018.
Rockhurst (17-24, 11-9 GLVC) scored all four of their runs in game two over the final two innings. The teams were locked in a 0-0 tie before the Hawks broke through with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth. Rockhurst then added two more insurance tallies in the seventh. McKendree was limited to just three hits in the game by the Hawks' Shannon Greene, which included a fifth-inning double off the bat of sophomore outfielder
