(LEBANON, Ill., April 20)--The McKendree University softball team will continue its eight-game road swing this weekend with a pair of Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheaders. The Bearcats will head to St. Louis on Saturday for a twinbill at Maryville University. Following an off-day, McKendree will make the trip to Rolla, Mo., for two games at Missouri S&T.
McKendree enters the weekend with an overall record of 32-13. The Bearcats have already matched their season win total from a year ago, when they wen 32-21. In GLVC play, McKendree is 15-7 on the year and currently sits in a tie third place in the GLVC standings with the University of Missouri-St. Louis. In the first NCAA Division II region rankings released on Wednesday, McKendree holds down the No. 4 spot in the Midwest Region.
On Wednesday, McKendree opened its week with a non-conference doubleheader sweep at Kentucky Wesleyan College. The Bearcats pounded out 27 hits and reached double figures in the scoring column in each contest, winning the opener 10-0 before recording a 12-3 victory in game two.
Haegen Boyer (Eddyville, IA/Eddyville) led the charge by going 6-for-7 on the day with three doubles, a home run and 10 RBI. Boyer drove in seven of the Bearcats' 12 runs in the nightcap.
Konnor Arrowood (Fulton, MO/South Callaway) had three hits and four RBI in the opener to aid the cause for McKendree, which scored at least 10 runs in back-to-back games for the first time this season.
Kylee Silliman (Fremont, IA/Oskaloosa) tossed a two-hit shutout in game one, needing just 66 pitches to pick up her sixth victory of the season in the circle for the Bearcats.
Heading into the weekend, McKendree leads the GLVC in pitching with an ERA of 2.51. The Bearcats are currently fourth in the league in hitting at .298 while they are tied for the conference lead with 38 home runs.
Brooke Gajewski (Kronenwetter, Wis./D.C. Everest) is tied for third in the GLVC with 11 home runs.
Rebecca Franke (Trenton, Ill./Wesclin) continues to hover near the top of the conference in batting average as she is second overall at .418. Franke and Gajewski rank second and third in the GLVC in on-base percentage at .524 and .491, respectively.

Maci Ingram (Woodlawn, Ill./Nashville Community) is second among all conference players with six saves.
Following this weekend's play, McKendree will wrap up its regular-season slate on Sunday, April 29 at the University of Southern Indiana. The 2018 Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship is set for May 3-6 at the EastSide Centre in East Peoria, Ill.
ABOUT MARYVILLE
The Saints are 21-18-1 overall and 8-12 in GLVC play. Maryville site just three games in back of the final GLVC playoff spot with two weeks remaining in the regular season. The Saints are right behind McKendree in fifth place in the league in hitting at .297, while they are fifth in team ERA at 3.13. The Saints' last game action came on Sunday in a doubleheader split at home against Missouri S&T.
Kelsey Martin is one of five regulars in the Maryville lineup hitting above .300. Martin is batting .360 this season and leads the team with 13 stolen bases. Jaclyn Pasakarnis leads the Saints with seven home runs and 25 RBI while posting a .356 average. In the circle Alyssa Callans is second in the GLVC (behind McKendree's
Miranda Gajewski (Kronenwetter, WI/D.C. Everest)) in ERA at 1.96. Callans is 13-7 on the year with 11 complete games and 107 strikeouts in 132 innings of work.
The Bearcats and Saints last met on March 18, 2017 in St. Louis as the teams split a GLVC doubleheader. Maryville won the opener 4-2 before McKendree bounced back with a 6-5 triumph in game two.
ABOUT MISSOURI S&T
The Miners enter the weekend with an overall record of 22-20 and an 11-9 slate in GLVC play. Missouri S&T will play on Saturday at home against Southern Indiana before hosting McKendree on Monday. The Miners have split each of their last four doubleheaders, including one on Monday at Maryville.
In 24 games this season Abby Klein has posted a batting average of .427. Olivia Young is currently second in the GLVC with 12 home runs and is tied for second with 46 RBI. Gretchen Egly, a .341 hitter this season for the Miners, is second on the team with five homers and 36 RBI. In the circle, Missouri S&T is led by Avery English, who is 15-9 overall with a 2.51 ERA and 93 strikeouts.
Last season, McKendree and Missouri S&T split a doubleheader on April 23, 2017 in Rolla. The Bearcats clawed their way to a 3-2 win in game one before the Miners picked up a 6-4 victory in the nightcap.
