(KIRKSVILLE, Mo., April 9)—The McKendree University took one of two games on Monday in a Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheader at Truman State University. The Bearcats grabbed an 8-1 win in the opener before the host Bulldogs rebounded in game two for a 5-0 victory.
The split leaves the Bearcats with an overall record of 26-11, while they are now 12-6 in GLVC action. McKendree will step out of conference play on Tuesday to visit Lindenwood University for a late-afternoon doubleheader. First pitch is set for 4 p.m. in St. Charles, Mo.

Kylee Silliman (Fremont, IA/Oskaloosa) kept the Truman State hitters in check for most of game one, allowing just one earned run on four hits while tossing her third complete game of the season. Silliman walked two batters and struck out one to collect her fourth win of the year in the circle.
In the opener, McKendree jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Franke,

Miranda Gajewski (Kronenwetter, WI/D.C. Everest) strung together three consecutive singles, with
Miranda Gajewski (Kronenwetter, WI/D.C. Everest)'s hit plating Franke with the first run of the afternoon for the Bearcats.
Brooke Gajewski (Kronenwetter, Wis./D.C. Everest) then launched her team-leading 10
th home run of the season – a solo shot in the third inning – to push the margin to 2-0.
McKendree broke the game open with three runs in the top of the fourth inning for a 5-0 advantage. Lowry delivered the big hit in the frame, a two-run double down the left-field line, to open the scoring in the frame. Two batters later, Franke produced a run-scoring single to bring home Lowry to give the Bearcats a five-run advantage.
Truman State (20-12, 9-7 GLVC) broke up Silliman's shutout bid with a run in the bottom of the fifth to pull within 5-1. Franke answered for the Bearcats in the top of the sixth with a two-run homer to left field, helping McKendree build a 7-1 cushion. The blast was the fourth homer of the season for Franke. Lowry then added an RBI single in the seventh inning to close out the scoring in game one.
Game two was scoreless until the bottom of the third, when the Bulldogs pushed across a pair of runs to grab a 2-0 lead. McKendree had its best scoring opportunity in the top of the fifth when it loaded the bases before Truman State wiggled out of the jam. The hosts then used a three-run homer off the bat of Jamie Fowle in the bottom of the fifth to stretch its lead to 5-0.
Truman State's Alyssa Hajduk allowed just one hit to McKendree, a fourth-inning single to Lowry. Hajduk did walk 10 batters but fanned nine in grabbing the victory.
