Men's Swimming & Diving

Men’s Swimming and Diving Beats No. 2 Indianapolis

(O'FALLON, Ill., Oct. 25) – The McKendree University swimming and diving program competed against two of the top teams in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) and NCAA. The No. 4 Bearcat men defeated No. 2 UIndy 154-146 and fell to No. 8 Drury 156-142. The No. 24 Bearcat women fell to both No. 7 UIndy and No. 3 Drury.
 
The Bearcats have a quick turnaround, competing in the Lindenwood Invite on Saturday at 1:00pm.
 
Junior Alexander Skinner (Namibia, Africa/Windhoek Afrikaans Private School) secured wins in the 100, 200 freestyle events with times of 45.25 and 1:40.60.
 
Senior Matija Pucarevic (Belgrade, Serbia/Sixth Belgrade Grammar School) won the 100 butterfly, turning in a time of 49.12.
 
Freshman Fabio Dalu (Cagliari, Italy/Liceo L.B. Alberti Cagliari) took first in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 9:24.01.
 
The men's 400 freestyle relay team of Pucarevic, sophomore Gregg Lichinsky (West Des Moines, IA/West Des Moines Valley High School), senior Luca Simonetti (Sassari, Italy/Liceo Scientifico Gulielmo Marconi Sassari), and Skinner won with a time of 3:00.71.
 
Senior Sydney Rey (Columbia, IL/Columbia High School) took second in the 100 backstroke and third in the 200 backstroke with times of 58.52 and 2:07.78.
 
Senior Milica Sostarec (Subotica, Serbia/Medical High School) came home with second place in the 50 freestyle, touching the wall in 24.23.
 
Freshman Grace Credit (La Grange Highlands, IL/Lyons Township High School) won third in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:08.57.
 
The women's 400 medley relay team of S. Rey, Credit, junior Victoria Sananikone (Cedar Park, TX/Cedar Park High School), and junior Meredith Geyer (Germantown, TN/Germantown High School) took third with a time of 4:00.56.
 
In one-meter diving, sophomore Ethan Larson (Anchorage, AK/Paideia High School) scored 253.25 points and sophomore Xavier Flores (Fresno, CA/Clovis West High School) scored 184.55.
 
In three-meter diving, Larson turned in 284.70 points and Flores scored 197.05 points.
