(GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., Oct.6) – The McKendree University women's hockey team closed out a two game road series with Davenport University on Sunday morning. The Bearcats carried over their momentum from Saturday's game to 4-0 shutout win over the Panthers.
The win pushes McKendree back to .500 at 2-2 overall.
After no scoring in the opening period, senior
Alyssa Albee (Brookfield, WI/Brookfield Central) connected with junior
Paris Suzuki (Covina, CA/Covina High School) for the first goal of the game. With 20 seconds left in the period, senior
Allison Sauvola (Eagle River, WI/Northland Pines) pushed the lead to two with an assist from fellow senior
Domenika Reusche (San Jose, CA/Archbishop Mitty). The McKendree defense allowed just five shots from Davenport to hold a 2-0 lead into the final period.
Quickly into the third period, junior
Laurynn Davey (Owens Cross Roads, AL/Huntsville High School) added to the lead with help from Albee. Freshman
Quinn Atchison (Victoria, BC, Canada/Belmont Seconday School) found the back of the net for her first collegiate goal off a pass from Sauvola. The Bearcats held the Panthers to four shots in period to take a 4-0 win.

Brittnee Kenny (Richmond, Ontario, Canada/South Carleton High School) and
Hannah Zochowski (Twinsburg, OH/Twinsburg High School) combined for 15 saves in the shutout.
The Bearcats will return home next weekend, Oct. 12-13 for a two game series with Minot State University.
