(LEBANON, Ill., Nov. 10) – The McKendree women's soccer team defeated the Flyers of Lewis University 2-0 this Sunday afternoon, and now advance to the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Championship Tournament Semifinals held this upcoming weekend in Jeffersonville, Indiana.
McKendree netted the eventual game-winning in the 30
th minute of play when sophomore midfielder
Emma Knoebel (Maryville, IL/Collinsville High School) found the back of the net on an assist from fellow sophomore
Riley Ross (Springfield, IL/Rochester High School). Ross would go on to score an insurance goal in the 70
th minute with an assist from
Alynnah O'Leary (Collinsville, IL/Collinsville High School) to extend the lead to 2-0 and secure the victory for McKendree. Overall, the Bearcats and Lewis were even in shots with eight apiece, though senior goalkeeper
Zoe Brochu (Ajax, Ontario, Canada/Pickering High School) stood tall in net making six saves, preserving her 11
th shutout of the 2019 season.
The Bearcats will be back in action this upcoming Friday, November 15 as they take on fifth-seeded Bellarmine at 1:30 p.m. EST.
