VIDEO PREVIEW WITH COACH MIKE BABCOCK

(LEBANON, Ill., Nov. 15)—The McKendree University football team will wrap up its 2019 season Saturday with a trip to Rolla, Mo., for a match-up against Missouri S&T. Kickoff for the Great Lakes Valley Conference contest is set for 1 p.m. The Bearcat Sports Network will have the call beginning with the pre-game show at 12:45 p.m. at www.glvcsn.com/mckendree.

The Bearcats enter Saturday's game with an overall record of 5-5 and a 3-3 mark in GLVC play. McKendree rolled to a 41-7 lead last Saturday at Leemon Field on its way to a 62-34 victory over Quincy University on Senior Day. In addition to a season-high in points, the Bearcats racked up a season-best 567 yards of total offense. Quarterback Turner Pullen (Shelbyville, IL/Shelbyville) threw for 302 yards and three touchdowns against the Hawks. Steven Towns, Jr. (Normal, IL/Normal Community), put up game-high totals of seven catches for 110 yards, while Matt Cole (Chicago, IL/Curie) registered his 11th touchdown catch of the year on a 69-yard catch-and-run which marked the Bearcats' longest play from scrimmage in 2019.

With the catch, Cole also equaled the Bearcats' career mark for touchdown catches with 16. Cameron James also had 16 TD grabs in his four-year career from 2012-15. Cole enters Saturday's game with 1,538 receiving yards, second only to James' 1,614 on McKendree's career chart.

Another player moving up the Bearcats' career top 10 list is linebacker Ricco Gipson, Jr. (Godfrey, IL/Alton), who moved into fourth place on the team's all-time chart for tackles. Gipson has 281 stops, and is within striking distance of Austin Weltha (287 tackles) and Brandon Nigro (295 tackles) for the No. 3 and 2 spots, respectively.

Pullen has etched his name in the McKendree football record book as well in 2019. His 22 touchdown passes heading into Saturday's game at Missouri S&T are the most for a first-year player in program history. Pullen is also second on the Bearcats' single-season list for TD passes, trailing the 27 that Reece Metcalf (Mount Carmel, IL/Mount Carmel) registered last season.

Thanks to its 62-point outburst against Quincy, McKendree has now scored 301 points on the season. The Bearcats have now topped the 300-point plateau in each of the past six seasons. McKendree also tied a single-game record against the Hawks with three blocked punts – all of which came in the first half. The only other time that McKendree had three blocked punts in a contest came in the 2016 season finale at home against Truman State University.
