McKendree to Welcome Westminster for Early-Week Tilt

(LEBANON, Ill., Nov. 18)—
The McKendree University men's basketball team will jump back into action Tuesday night when Westminster College visits the Statham Center for an early-week non-conference clash. The Bearcats and Blue Jays will tip off at 7 p.m. in Lebanon.
 
McKendree is 1-2 on the year following the Bearcats' 81-73 loss on Saturday at home against East Central University. Oliver Stephen (Edwardsville, IL/Edwardsville) knocked down six three-pointers on his way to a team-high 18 points against the Tigers. Logan Kohrmann (Bartelso, IL/Breese Central) finished a rebound shy of a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds, while Bryson Bultman (Nashville, IL/Nashville) chipped in with 10 points and seven rebounds.
 
Through three games this season, Stephen is the Bearcats' leading scorer at 16 PPG. He has connected on 46.7 percent of his attempts from three-point range (14-of-30). Kohrmann is next with 14.7 PPG, while sophomore forward Aleksa Popovic (Belgrade, Serbia/BC Partizan Belgrade) in the other McKendree player averaging in double figures at 11.7 PPG. Bultman leads the Bearcats with seven rebounds per game and nine assists.
 
As a team, McKendree is shooting 45 percent from the field and 72.5 percent from the free throw line. Despite their 1-2 record to start the year, the Bearcats are outscoring their opponents 215-205.
 
After its game with Westminster on Tuesday, McKendree will have a few days off to prepare for Principia College on Saturday. The Bearcats and Panthers will meet at 3 p.m.
 
ABOUT WESTMINSTER
The Blue Jays have a season record of 0-3 in 2019-20. Westminster spent the weekend in Iowa, where it was defeated twice by Buena Vista and Simpson at the A-R-C/SLIAC Classic.
 
Jaxon Althaus leads the Blue Jays in scoring at 15 PPG. Landon Harrison is next at 11.7 PPG and Emil Spriggs rounds out the double-digit scorers for Westminster at 11.5 PPG. Harrison has grabbed a team-best 5.7 RPG and has dished out nine assists. Omar Wright, who averages seven points per outing, is shooting a team-high 71.4 percent from the field. A total of 16 different players have seen action so far this season for the Blue Jays.
