(ST. CHARLES, MO – Nov. 24) – The McKendree University men's wrestling team took on the Joe Parisi Open hosted by Lindenwood University Saturday afternoon, and competed against Division I and II programs in the Freshman/ Sophomore tournament and the Open tournament. Six Bearcats placed in the top-6 of their weight classes.

There was no final team score for the tournament. Christian Mejia (Elkhart, IN/), Cory Peterson (Valmeyer, IL/De Smet), Dalton Hoover (Mingo Junction, OH/Martins Ferry), Marcus Povlick (Plainfield, IL/Plainfield North), Qian'te Wagner (Alton, Ill./Alton) (Alton, Ill./Alton) and Ryan Vasbinder (Grand Rapids, MI/Grandville) all placed in the top-6 of their respective weight classes.

Black Division Freshman/ Sophomore
133: Christian Mejia (Elkhart, IN/) was defeated in a 3-1 decision to Cayden Rooks of Indiana University in the 1^st-place match. Mejia placed second and went 4-1 on the day.

149: Josh Ramos (Plainfield, IL/Providence Catholic) was defeated in the Consolation Round 4 match to Mitchell Bohlken of Missouri. Ramos went 3-2 on the day.

157: Ben Courtney (Pacific, MO/Pacific) was defeated by fall (Fall 1:18) to Ryan Swanson (unattached) in the Consolation Round 4 match. Courtney went 3-2 on the day.

Robbie Snellengberger (St. Charles, MO) was defeated by fall (Fall 3:16) to Noah Boles of Joliet Junior College in the Consolation Round 3 match. Snellengberger went 0-2 on the day.

Charlie Getz (Webster Groves, MO/Webster Groves) was defeated by major decision (Maj. 12-1) to Anthony Des Vigne of Central Oklahoma in the Consolation Round 3 match. Getz went 1-2 on the day.

165: Cory Peterson (Valmeyer, IL/De Smet), who competed as a redshirt, won a 2-1 decision over Matt Ortiz of Indiana University in the 1^st-place match. Peterson placed first and went 5-0 on the day.

184: Jacob Anderson (Anchorage, AK/South Anchorage) was defeated in a 12-8 decision to Carson Berryhill of Oklahoma in the Consolation Round 3 match. Anderson went 1-2 on the day.

285: Ian Kuehl (Lena, IL/Lena-Winslow) was defeated in a 3-2 decision to Johnny Shafer of Norther Illinois University in the Consolation Round 6 match. Kuehl went 4-2 on the day.

Ty Obsy (Ballwin, MO/Parkway South) was defeated in a major decision (Maj. 10-2) to Justin Leath of Missouri Valley College in the Consolation Round 3 match. Osby went 1-2 on the day.

Dalton Hoover (Mingo Junction, OH/Martins Ferry) was defeated by a 3-2 decision to Max Villnow of Minnesota State - Mankato in the Consolation Semifinal match. Hoover placed sixth and went 4-2 on the day.

Gold Division
125: Marcus Povlick (Plainfield, IL/Plainfield North) was defeated in a 10-6 decision to Chris Cannon of Northwestern University in the 1^st-place match. Povlick placed second and went 4-1 on the day.

Vincent Priante (Traverse City, MI/Traverse City West) was defeated in a 10-4 decision to Matt Malavsky of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in the Consolation Sound 2 match. Priante went 0-2 on the day.

133: Charles McNeal (Florissant, MO/Christian Brothers Catholic) was defeated in a 6-5 decision to Tanner Hitchcock of Lindenwood University in the Consolation Round 3. McNeal went 1-2 on the day.

165: Qian'te Wagner (Alton, Ill./Alton) (Alton, Ill./Alton) won in a medical forfeit (MFF) over Peyton Mocco of Missouri in the 5^th-place match. Wagner placed fifth and went 4-2 on the day.

184: Michael Aldrich (Ballwin, MO/Parkway South) was defeated in a 9-7 decision to Bailey Kell of Maryville University in the Consolation Round 3. Aldrich went 2-2 on the day.

Kevin Zange (Woodstock, IL/Woodstock) was defeated in a 9-3 decision to Nate Panagakis of Newman University in the Consolation Round 4 match. Zange went 1-2 on the day.

197: Ryan Vasbinder (Grand Rapids, MI/Grandville) won by technical fall (TF 15-0) over Kalin Winkler of Central Oklahoma in the 1^st-place match. Vasbinder placed first and went 4-0 on the day.

285: Vincenzo Scaletta (Harwood Heights, IL/Ridgewood) was defeated in a 5-1 decision to Jacob Bohlken of Missouri in the Consolation Round 5 match. Scaletta went 1-2 on the day.

Caleb Gossett (St. Charles, MO/Francis Howell Central) was defeated by major decision (Maj. 10-2) to Garrett Beier of Central Oklahoma in the Consolation Round 4 match. Gossett went 2-2 on the day.

The Bearcats next competition will against Emmanuel College in their 2019-20 season home-opener. The Emmanuel College Dual will begin at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, Dec. 5 at the Harry H. Statham Sports Center, in Lebanon, Ill.
