(LEBANON, Ill., Nov. 3) – The McKendree men's soccer team fell to the Saints of Maryville University 1-0 this Sunday afternoon. Despite the loss, the Bearcats still conclude the regular season as the 2019 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Regular Season Champions, with a 13-2-2 overall and 12-1-2 in GLVC play.
The first half of play was evenly matched, and it wasn't until the 44
th minute of play that the Saints notched the lone goal of the match which consisted of a chip ball that his the McKendree crossbar and barely squeaked across the goal line. Both teams came out to play in a ferocious second half, though neither team was able to find the back of the net, resulting in McKendree's first and only GLVC loss of the 2019 regular season. Men's soccer will be back in action for the GLVC Championship Tournament this upcoming Sunday November 10 as they host eighth-seeded Drury at Leemon Field with kick-off starting at 2:30 p.m.
