(LEBANON, Ill., Dec. 1)—
The McKendree University men's basketball team returns from a 10-day break to kick off the Great Lakes Valley Conference portion of its schedule Tuesday night at home against the University of Southern Indiana. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at the Harry M. Statham Sports Center.

The Bearcats last played on Nov. 23, when they rolled past Principia College, 105-61. Seven different players scored in double figures as McKendree improved to 3-2 on the year. Senior guard Nate Bethel (Nassau, Bahamas/St. Louis Christian Academy) – playing in his first game of the season – led the way with 18 points, three blocked shots and three steals. Freshman forward Jakobie Robinson (Indianapolis, IN/Warren Central) pulled down a team-leading seven rebounds for the Bearcats, who held a 44-32 advantage on the glass against the Panthers.

Not counting Bethel's 18-point performance against Principia, four McKendree players are averaging in double figures this season. Junior guard Oliver Stephen (Edwardsville, IL/Edwardsville) tops the quartet at 17.2 points per game. In five games, Stephen has already drained 25 three-pointers and is shooting 54.3 percent beyond the arc. From the field, Stephen is shooting at a 55.6-percent clip. Senior guard Logan Kohrmann (Bartelso, IL/Breese Central) is next in the scoring column at 13.8 PPG, and is connecting on 57.8 percent of his attempts from the floor.

Sophomore forward Aleksa Popovic (Belgrade, Serbia/BC Partizan Belgrade) is averaging 11.2 points and 3.8 rebounds per outing, and leads the Bearcats in shooting at 59 percent. Freshman forward Bryson Bultman (Nashville, IL/Nashville) rounds out the list of double-digit scorers for McKendree at 10.4 PPG. Bultman is also the Bearcats' leading rebounder at nine per game, while he also paces the squad with 22 assists.

Tuesday's game wraps up a season-opening six-game home stand for McKendree. The Bearcats' first road game of the 2019-20 campaign will come on Saturday, when they head to Jackson, Tenn., to face Union University in a non-conference battle. Tip-off will be at 4 p.m.

Like McKendree in its last outing, USI placed seven players in double figures, led by Josh Price with 23 points to go along with a team-best 10 rebounds. Darnell Butler added 19 points, while Tyler Dancy and Glen Rouch each connected for 15 points.

Emmanuel Little is the leading scorer this season for the Screaming Eagles at 20.6 PPG. He is shooting 59 percent from the floor and 84.6 percent from the foul line.
