(QUINCY, Ill., Dec. 15) – The McKendree University men's basketball team dominated Hannibal-LaGrange 88-51 to earn a 2-0 finish at the Quincy Holiday Classic. The Bearcats improve to 6-3 overall on the season.
McKendree scored first in the game with a freshman forward
Jakobie Robinson (Indianapolis, IN/Warren Central) jumper within the first minute of play and then maintained the lead throughout the remainder of the game. At halftime, the Bearcats led the Trojans, 42-24. McKendree continued strong competitive play in the second half spreading its lead to 37 points at its largest lead.
The lead scorer for McKendree was junior guard
Jacob Donaldson (Effingham, IL/Effingham) who recorded 19 points. Two other Bearcats tallied double-digit points in the game, senior guard
Logan Kohrmann (Bartelso, IL/Breese Central) who recorded 15 points and junior guard
Oliver Stephen (Edwardsville, IL/Edwardsville) who collected 12 points. Kohrmann was also the assist leader for McKendree with eight assists.
39 of the Bearcats 88 points came from the bench in comparison to the Trojan's 21 points from their bench. McKendree, also capitalized more on turnovers scoring 19 of its 88 points off Trojan turnovers whereas Hannibal-LaGrange only managed two points off turnovers.
The Bearcats out-shot Hannibal-LaGrange in all categories; field goal, behind the three-point line, and at the free throw line. McKendree's best category being 90 percent at the free throw line, followed by 50.8 percent on field goals, and 45.9 percent behind the three-point line.
McKendree will continue competition with a game at Austin Peay University on Tuesday Dec. 17 in Clarksville, Tenn. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
