(HUNTSVILLE, Ala., Feb. 10) – The McKendree University softball team resumed Charger Chillout play Sunday, first suffering a narrow loss against Mississippi College 4-5 before topping Montevallo 1-0.
In the first game of the day, McKendree led Mississippi College 3-0 through the first four and a half innings, however the Choctaws were able to go on a four-point run in the bottom of the fourth, followed by another run scored in the bottom of the fifth. The Bearcats were able to score one more run courtesy of a sacrifice RBI from
Konnor Arrowood (Fulton, MO/South Callaway) but were ultimately unable to close the gap and fell 4-5.
McKendree opened scoring in the first inning against Montevallo after a
Whitney Boschert (Wentzville, MO/Francis Howell High School) sacrifice RBI that sent
Jenna Alfeldt (New Athens, IL/New Athens High School) to home plate. Pitcher
Kylee Silliman (Fremont, IA/Oskaloosa) and the Bearcat field would go on to shut out the Falcons for the remainder of the game, with Silliman pitching four strikeouts.
McKendree softball returns to action on Friday, February 15 when the Bearcats take on Southern Wesleyan University in Dahlonega, GA.
