(HUNTSVILLE, Ala., Feb. 8) – The McKendree University softball team will open their season this Saturday, February 9 and Sunday, February 10 at the 2019 Charger Chillout on the campus of the University of Alabama in Huntsville.
 
The Bearcats return to the diamond after a 2018 campaign that saw them to a program-first bid to the NCAA Division II National Tournament and a second-place finish in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
 
McKendree will be squaring off against the Reddies of Henderson State University at 1 p.m. this Saturday, followed by Shorter University at 3 p.m. and will finish the weekend by taking on Mississippi College at 11 a.m. on Sunday, and conclude Chillout competition against the University of Montevallo at 1 p.m.
 
The Reddies of Henderson State are currently 2-1 overall on the year, after most recently defeating Southwest Baptist University 9-3 on February 3.
 
The Hawks of Shorter University are currently 3-2 overall after most recently defeating Miles College 13-7 on February 3.
 
Mississippi College is also 3-2 on the year, most recently defeating Kentucky Wesleyan 6-4 earlier today, February 8.
 
Montevallo is currently 3-1 overall after suffering their first loss of the year to the University of North Georgia 1-2 on February 2.
