(OXFORD, Ohio, Feb. 9) – The McKendree University women's hockey team closed out a two game series on the road against Miami on Saturday afternoon, suffering a 5-2 loss to the RedHawks.
The Bearcats fall to 15-7 overall on the season with the loss.
The RedHawks jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after the first period.
The Bearcats responded with two powerplay goals late in the second period to cut the lead to 3-2. Junior
Alyssa Albee (Brookfield, WI/Brookfield Central) knocked in the first goal with 1:39 left in the second period with passes from sophomore
Madison Mesec (Menlo Park, CA/Menlo-Atherton) and junior
Nadia Studnicka (Chillicothe, IL/Home School). 35 seconds later, sophomore
Paris Suzuki (Covina, CA/Covina High School) netted her first goal of the day with assists from sophomore
Dakota Peterson (Battleford, Saskatchewan, Canada) and junior
Delayne Ivanowski (Kirkwood, MO/Kirkwood).
Miami added two goals in the third to take a 5-2 victory over McKendree.
The Bearcats will return to home ice for the rest of the regular season beginning Feb. 15 when the University of Rhode Island comes to the McKendree Metro Rec Plex.
