(OXFORD, Ohio, Feb. 8) – The McKendree University women's hockey team dropped the first game of a two game series against Miami (OH) on Friday night on the road.
The Bearcats move to 15-6 overall on the season.
After back and forth play in the opening period, the host RedHawks got on the board first with under a minute left in the period.
The Bearcats tied the game four minutes into the final period when sophomore
Dakota Peterson (Battleford, Saskatchewan, Canada) caught a pass from junior
Jana Garrow (Wexford, PA/North Allegheny) and buried it past the Miami netminder. Eight minutes later the RedHawks jumped back ahead. This lead would hold as McKendree would suffer a close 2-1 loss on the road.

Naomi Leasck (St. Louis, MO/Lindbergh High School) stopped 29 shots in her efforts.
The Bearcats will look for a split Saturday afternoon at 1:15p.m ET in Ohio.
