(Lebanon, Ill., Mar.8) – The McKendree University softball team went 2-0 Friday against the Rangers of Wisconsin Parkside, winning game one by a score of 7-6, and winning game two by a resounding 14-3 deficit.
Game one saw the Rangers take an early lead, winning 6-2 by the halfway point of the fourth inning. The Bearcats tied it back up in the bottom of the fourth and sealed their win when
Haegen Boyer (Eddyville, IA/Eddyville) hit a solo homerun in the bottom of the fifth for the 7-6 win.
McKendree took full control in game two, never surrendering the lead through four and a half innings. The dominant win was highlighted by a fourth inning grand slam courtesy of senior
Samantha Cameron (Dix, Ill./Centralia, Ill.), which depleted any Parkside hopes of a comeback.
The Bearcats will head back out to the diamond Saturday, March 9 as they take on the Peacocks of Upper Iowa at Bearcat Field, with games now scheduled for 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.
