(EVANSVILLE, Ind., Sep. 15) – McKendree University women's soccer Head Coach
Tim Strange earned his 500
th career win this past Sunday after his Bearcats defeated the Screaming Eagles of Southern Indiana University 3-1 through 90 minutes of play.
Strange's illustrious 500 wins come from a combined record of his time at the helm of both men's and women's teams at McKendree University.
"It's all about the players," said Strange following Sunday's victory. "I've been very fortunate to coach some great players through my career and to reach this milestone is a true honor. I could not have gotten here without the talent of the teams that I have had in the past and currently."
Sunday's matchup began with an early Bearcat goal from
Alynnah O'Leary (Collinsville, IL/Collinsville High School) courtesy of a
Paula Melsheimer (Reil, Germany/Gymnasium Traben-Trarbach) assist in just the sixth minute of play. Southern Indiana responded with a goal of their own just six minutes later, but McKendree quickly responded less than a minute later after McKendree's
Sydnee Carroll (Millstadt, IL/Belleville West High School) struck the net off a
Emma Knoebel (Maryville, IL/Collinsville High School) assist. The final dagger came in the 67
th minute after
Morgan Cervera (Saint Peters, MO/Francis Howell Central High School) scored the third and final goal for the Bearcats off a
Madyson Mossman (St. Louis, MO/Ursuline Academy) assist. Goalkeeper
Zoe Brochu (Ajax, Ontario, Canada/Pickering High School) made six saves in the victory.
