(ST. PETERS, Mo., Sept. 15) – The McKendree University men's club water polo closed out the weekend with an explosive performance in its win over Missouri S&T. The Bearcats scored 23 goals against the Miners before falling to Lindenwood 13-7.
McKendree closes the weekend with a 3-2 record on the season.
Game One
The Bearcats coasted to a 23-1 win over Missouri S&T by executing on all aspects. Sophomore
Peter Germuska (Encinitas, CA/La Cost Canyon High School) caught fire with seven goals, a game-high. Junior
Brandon Kavanaugh (Hawthorn Woods, IL/Mundelein Cons. High School) also exploded offensively, putting five balls in the back of the net. Senior
Jackson Smith (McHenry, IL/McHenry West High School) followed closely behind with three goals.
Sophomore
Kyle Moore (Whittier, CA/La Habra High School) added in two goals while seniors
Andrew Ruelas (Riverside, CA/John W. North High School),
Jarad Wahl (St. Louis, MO/Oakville High School),
Tyler Hansen (), sophomore
Owen Martin (Flower Mound, TX/Flower Mound High School), and freshmen
Connor Pulido (Chicago Ridge, IL/Harold L Richards High School) and
Ethan Hansen (St. Louis, MO/Oakville High School) all recorded one goal.
Senior goalie
Anthony Murat (Chicago, IL/Buffalo Grove High School) dominated in the cage, allowing just the lone goal and making 14 saves.
Game Two
In the loss to Lindenwood, three Bearcats had recorded two goals. Germuska, Pulido, and Smith led the game with the two goals apiece.
Murat made five saves in the loss and recorded one steal.
The Bearcats will return to the water on Sept. 21 as they honor their seniors in the last home game of the season against Monmouth College.
