(O'FALLON, Ill., Jan. 11) – The McKendree University men's, women's swimming and diving program jumped back into the water to begin the second half of the season against Washington University in St. Louis on Saturday afternoon at the McKendree Metro Rec Plex.
The men came out on top by the score of 156.5-123.5. The woman were toppled by the visiting Bears 172-126.
In the meet, seven Bearcats came away with multiple victories.
The 400 medley relay team of freshman
Davante Carey (Nassau, Bahamas/Queens College), freshman
John Heaphy (Eagle River, AK/Eagle River High School), senior
Matija Pucarevic (Belgrade, Serbia/Sixth Belgrade Grammar School), and junior
Alexander Skinner (Namibia, Africa/Windhoek Afrikaans Private School) came in first with a time of 3:21.79.
The women's 200 freestyle relay team of senior
Milica Sostarec (Subotica, Serbia/Medical High School), senior
Sydney Rey (Columbia, IL/Columbia High School), sophomore
Haley Rey (Columbia, IL/Columbia High School), and junior
Meredith Geyer (Germantown, TN/Germantown High School) took first with a time of 1:38.09.
The men's 200 freestyle relay team of Pucarevic, Carey, freshman
Caleb Law (Anchorage, AK/Robert Service High School), and Skinner placed first with a time of 1:22.59.
Freshman
Hallie Dixon (Jeffersonville, IN/Jeffersonville High School) took first in the 1000 freestyle, touching the wall in 10:55.19.
Senior
Luca Simonetti (Sassari, Italy/Liceo Scientifico Gulielmo Marconi Sassari) finished the 200 freestyle in 1:43.24, taking first place.
In the 500 freestyle, sophomore
Claire Brouillet (O'Fallon, MO/Fort Zumwalt West High School) touched the wall in 5:21.56, earning first place.
Freshman
Fabio Dalu (Cagliari, Italy/Liceo L.B. Alberti Cagliari) collected wins in the 500, 1000 freestyles, posting times of 4:39.97 and 9:32.49.
S. Rey finished with two more victories in the 50, 100 backstroke, touching the wall in 27.70 and 58.87.
Carey posted another victory in the 50 backstroke, completing the race in 23.18.
Freshman
Grace Credit (La Grange Highlands, IL/Lyons Township High School) won both the 50, 100 breaststroke, posting times of 30.69 and 1:07.71. Heaphy posted wins in the same events with times of 26.05 and 56.87.
Skinner added wins in the 50, 100 freestyle with times of 20.69 and 46.33. Sostarec also won both events, touching the wall in 23.96 an 53.69.
Pucarevic closed with wins in the 50, 100 butterfly events, posting times of 22.57 and 49.12.
Junior diver
Caitlyn Canadi (South Lyon, MI/South Lyon High School) took second place in one and three meter diving with scores of 220.30 and 208.85.
The Bearcats will return to pool next Friday, January 17 at home against Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) opponent, Lindenwood University.
